where legend meets the journey

Spiazzo is one of the stages of the San Vili Trail, a SAT route of nearly one hundred kilometers that can be walked from Madonna di Campiglio to Trento, retracing the evangelical mission of Saint Vigilius. The Parish Church of Spiazzo is in fact dedicated to him. According to legend, it was on the banks of the Sarca River in Spiazzo that Vigilius met martyrdom on June 26, 405 AD, when he was attacked by pagans furious at the idea of being evangelized.
